Imperial Skies Scratchbuilds

Hello again all,
I actually was never into Aeronef before but.... after having bought Gruntz , which I like a lot , I decided to pitch in the Imperial Skies during the Kickstarter .

Imperial skies has the looks of a very interesting game though I wish that the author would make the Pdf version available to buyers so that one can print any cards one wishes. A set of official counters would be nice also . This was done for Gruntz so why not for Imp Skies ?

Anyway I decided to build my own ships to have more personalised fleets.

3mm White PVC sheet ( though Lollipop wooden sticks can easily be used also ) , Empty Ball pen ink tubes for funnels & sprue turrets. Very fiddly to build but I think well worth the work.
With hindsight , my advice would be to get turret sets from Brigade , as I had done with the planes & bombers ( which are too small to scratchbuild anyway ).

I used the same Ship model dimensions found on the Brigade site. My first 3 models represent a British Torpedo Nef ( 23 x 8 mm ) a Patrol Nef ( 38 x 12 mm ) & a Cruiser ( 64 x 18mm ). Now all I need to build is a Battleship & an Aircraft Carrier.(ready) - Next I built German versions . Last I built 4 Digs using missiles from a 1/32nd scale aircraft kit.

Now I have the basis for 2 fleets.

Enjoy & may you be Inspired

Gorechosen

Hello again all,
Been some time since I painted 28mm as I had devoted all my free time to 15mm. I painted these GW Gorechosen ( a great beer & pretzel game btw ) for a friend of mine. My favourite minis are the Slaughter priest & the one with the dangling morning star on a chain

They're not painted competition level but for gaming they're more than good. It took me around 3 hours solid work to finish them & their high level of detail helps a lot in painting them.

I painted them this way to get a dark & brooding palette.

Matt black spray undercoat.
Light Brass overspray ( see the close up & you'll see the spray dots ).
Very light Gold overspray on top parts.
Block in the main colours ( ie. Flesh, Steel, Leather & Cloth )
Over wash with Windsor & Newton peat brown ( I have been using this ink for more than 25 years & it has never disappointed me )
Highlight with the main colours.
Last touch ups with brighter shade of colour.

Btw the lava on the bases is made by shaving colour pencils/crayons ( Red, Dark Red, yellow, orange, dark brown ) & mixing it with white glue.

Enjoy & may you be inspired
