Here is another Scratchbuilt Vehicle.
Designed in Lightburn ( this is a great & relatively simple design program ).
There should be a free download & for sure one can find people who do laser cutting online.

So go ahead & design.
Note , You don't need to know how to draw but you do need to plan & calculate dimensions as everything must fit properly.
Laser cut in old HP Ohp transparency box card ( Ohp is dark age technology by today's standards 😉)
Tracks are my usual PC old IDE cables.
The mechanicus mini is scratchbuilt also.
Quite like how this came out. Notice the slots that help assemble everything.
Thanks for your comments.

The vehicle looks great Zruny! I'll check out Lightburn too, as I've just started down a similar path myself, but with the cricut at my local libraries Maker Space instead.
ReplyDeleteI've been playing with freecad, inkscape -and a couple of other programs that I've forgotten the names of- but they're not a lot of fun to use imho.
I was originally going to go down the laser cut MDF route, but when I found out that the cricut can cut card up to 2.4mm I switched my focus. It's been going well so far.
It's great to see your posts/builds again mate. Take care :)
Hey Mr.P,
ReplyDeleteHow are you my friend ?. Haven't chatted in quite a while .
Thanks for the comments.
There was a time when I also was seriously thinking about getting a circuit but decided to get a Sculpfun Laser engraver/cutter instead. Lightburn was the logical choice & I love it. Low learning curve, for me at least . Wish Blender was that easy :( .
I prefer card to Mdf but it has to be good firm card, like the stuff they use for frames.
What have you built ?

I haven't built anything yet, just trying out the cricut with free images that I've found online at the moment. I'm thinking of using it to cut out detailedwall panels that can glue to basic shapes to create buildings. It's a work in progress, but I'm getting good results so far.
DeleteMr.P, Have you seen these ?

I think I did, but was too lazy to comment....I'm kinda slack like that ;) Love your builds though mate! Always Inspirational 🥰
DeleteThanks Mr.P.
ReplyDeleteNo worries.
Sometimes it's difficult to do the simplest things .... and we have to struggle my friend, I hadn't posted anything for more than a year , just didn't feel like doing it ...... then I pushed & pushed & pushed myself to do so .... ;)
Have a great weekend.
